The world is thy sheep and not thy home... (Therese of Lisieux)

As the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maidservant look to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes are on the LORD our God until He shows mercy upon us... (Psalm 123:2)

The Lord does not so much look at the greatness of our actions or even their difficulty as to the love which is put into them.. (Therese of Lisieux)

Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns—and yet your Heavenly Father still feeds them. Are you of not much more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add a single cubit to his stature? And why do you worry about clothing? Consider carefully how the lilies of the field grow: They do not labor nor do they spin. Yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear? For the Gentiles strive after all these things, and your Heavenly Father already knows you need them. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.. (Matthew 6:25-33)

A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you... For the Lord is your protector, He is your strong fortress.. A nursing mother may forget her child, but I the Lord will never forget you.. (Psalm 91:7; Psalm 18:2; Isaiah 49:15)

There was a landowner who planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a winepress in it, and built a tower. Then he rented it out to some tenants and went away on a journey. But the tenants seized his servants. They beat one, killed another, and stoned a third. Again the owner sent other servants, more than the first and they did the same to them. Finally, he sent his son, thinking, ‘Surely they will respect my son!’ But when the tenants saw the son, they said to eachother, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and take his inheritance!’ So indeed they seized him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him...

..but who are you O man to talk back to God? Should a vessel say to the potter "Why did you make me the way I am?" Does He not have the right to make from the same clay one vessel for special occasions and another for common use?

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.. (Luke 12:33-34)

Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but my ears You have opened. Burnt offerings and sin offerings You did not require. Then I said, “Here I am, I have come—it is written about me in the scroll: I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your law is within my heart." I proclaim righteousness in the great assembly; behold, I do not seal my lips, as You, O LORD, do know. I have not covered up Your righteousness in my heart; I have declared Your faithfulness and salvation; I have not concealed Your loving devotion and faithfulness from the great assembly. O LORD, do not withhold Your mercy from me; Your loving devotion and truth will always guard me. (Psalm 40:6-11)

He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD. Blessed is the man who has made the LORD his trust, who has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood.. (Psalm 40:3-4)

Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders You have done, and the plans You have for us—none can compare with You—if I speak and declare them, they are far more than can ever be numbered.. (Psalm 40:5)
