"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut your door, and then pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly... " (Matthew 6:5-6)
"But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which appear beautiful on the outside, but on the inside they are full of dead men’s bones and everything unclean... You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those who are trying to..." (Matthew 23:27; Matthew 23:13)

"Too late have I loved You, O Beauty ever ancient, ever new, too late I have loved You! You were within me, but I was outside, and it was there that I searched for You. In my unloveliness I plunged into the lovely things which You created. You were with me, but I was not with You. Created things kept me from You; yet if they had not been in You they would have not been at all. You called, You shouted, and You broke through my deafness. You flashed, You shone, and You dispelled my blindness. You breathed Your fragrance on me; I drew in breath and now I pant for You. I have tasted You, now I hunger and thirst for more. You touched me, and I burned for Your peace...”

For what shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord... As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered..." But I consider my life of no value to me... What is more, I consider everything as loss for the surpassing knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have endured the loss of all things and I count them as nothing but rubbish, that I may gain Christ... (Romans 8:35; Romans 8:38-39; Romans 8:36; Acts 20:24; Philippians 3:8)
"When you come to appear before Me, who has asked this of you, this trampling of My courts? Stop bringing meaningless offerings! Your incense is detestable to Me. New Moons, Sabbaths and convocations— I cannot bear your worthless assemblies. Your New Moon feasts and your appointed festivals I hate with all My being. They have become a burden to Me; I am weary of bearing them. When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide My eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood..." (Isaiah 1:12-15)
